T-shirts and other gifts are also available at the Marine Park Office with 100% of the proceeds going toward the and maintenance of the reef system.
Roatan scuba diving shops that offer cheap courses are people who care the least about the environment and your PERSONAL SAFETY according to the PADI certification board. There is not one Roatan scuba diving shop that will take you diving without you proving the existence of a PADI certification. Beginner Open Water Courses are offered from $200 - $250 at most reputable Roatan scuba diving shops. This course involves watching DVD’s, classroom study and quizzes, 2 hours in shallow water, and 4 boat dives. It usually takes 3 – 4 days to complete. Refresher courses are also offered for those that have not been scuba diving for 6 months or more. This can be completed in a day for $50.

"The Sea, biologists tell us, holds the key to the mysteries of life.
In some unknown time and way a molecule of matter crossed an unknown line and became a living cell.
Other scientists believe that the human mind has a dim awareness of long tenuous roots that stretch back into the sea.
When we dream of being in water, they say, of diving into it or coming out of it, we are reliving the mysteries of our own birth.
Our language reflects the uneasy awe we feel towards the unknown world which covers most of the planet.
When something is beyond our understanding we say it's too deep or that we just can't fathom it!"
