Cusuco National Park

Cusuco National Park is noted for a population of resplendent quetzals, best viewed during nesting season April - May. Located just two hours from San Pedro Sula and easily accessible all year round with a four wheel drive. Cusuco National Park is managed by the Fundacion Hector Rodrigo Pastor Fasquelle offices locatied in San Pedro Sula.


Cusuco National Park is located west to San Pedro Sula, Honduras. the cloud forest has 2 zones.

The core zone and the buffer zone:

The core zone is the area where the forest is most dense and virgin, and it’s more protected.


The buffer zone surrounds the core zone; it’s the area where mountain villages settled.


The huge diversity of activities you can do in Cusuco National park is amazing.


  • Truck 4x4 is needed to get to the Cusuco National Parks evevation is 2200 meters and you can get to 1800 meters with the 4x4.
  • Toucan 4 Waterfalls is a 1 1/2 hr hike, but worth every step. Ther are four water falls at Toucan Waterfalls and you are limited to only seeing the fourth water fall. Swimming is permited and a "must do".
  • Cusuco National Park Golondrinas Waterfalls trail is complex a 1 1/2hr hike over rough terrain.The cloud forest trail is denser and mystical.
  • Cusuco National Park Quetzal Waterfall trail starts at the Natioinal Parks Visitors Center it is an easy hike and you get close to the core zone.
  • Cusuco National Park Mountain biking trails are very nice, 9kms of horizontal and downhill to Naranjito Village, 6kms downhil from base camp to Buenos Aires Village.
  • Cusuco National Park tour is app. 2-3hrs of spectacular views, camping is "to die for", temperature are a might cool making for up close personal experience, no electricty just you and nature at its best.
  • Cusuco National Park Eco Lodge developed by the Honduran government at the Buenos Aires Village. Eco friendly using solar panels. It has five rooms, a common kitchen, common living room and a beautiful view from the balcony.
  • Cusuco National Park Caves 10+ trails, villages, rappelling just to get you started more, more and more.
