Roatan island style website featuring articles and stories of adventures, yarns and photography, this is how we invite you to experience the island. Roatan readers grasp a sense of what it means to escape to pristine
beaches, coral reefs and participate in the islands culture.
During this time Roatan had become well known as a Diving Destination - Scuba Divers came from all parts of the world to enjoy all the wonders of the Coral Reef.
Brady had also been amazed by the reef but island physical and natural beauty had captivated him from the very beginning. The forested hill sides, fertile valleys, and majestic panoramic views had made their mark... The Island was just as beautiful above the water as it was below! (View from the top of Carambola Mountain.)
"Most of Roatan’s early arrrivals came from the Cayman Islands.
They arrived on or about 1830 just after British abolition of slavery,
which is said to have been in 1838.
Caymanian people were seafaring and were well versed with navigation lanes
in the area as they repeatly fished for turtles and other marine life.
Caymanian slave holders settled in western Roatan early on
and they were followed by former slaves who also came from the Cayman Islands."
